Hey Folks,

I just read a lot of the posts about the new Akai MPC X and MPC 2.0 software, but I was thinking Akai should also seriously think about making an MPC X Controller only much like the Renaissance is, the current MPC X is going to cost roughly $2,199.00, now for all the MPC people out there that yelled and screamed for a standalone MPC well, its going to cost you, but for people who are solely in the studio, they don't need a standalone unit, so its not worth it to pay $2,199.00 when all you're going to do is use it much like the Ren, I own the Ren, and I would love a USB 3.0 Ren replacement without having to purchase a standalone unit, besides if you folks haven't heard when using the MPC X connected to your computer this is where you get access to the 128 tracks at a maximum of 24bit / 96 kHz, the standalone only gives you a maximum of 8 stereo tracks at 24 bit / 44 kHz, so It almost makes sense financially for Akai to produce a non-standalone controller version of the MPC X, this would be a legitimate upgrade for all the Renaissance users who don't need a standalone unit, and they can charge roughly half of the standalone's current price of $2,199.00 for a new USB 3.0 controller.

I hope you are listening Akai

Just my two cents

kinda like i said in a previous thread.....if 2.0 works well with the Renaissance I will be a happy bunny and sit tight for a significant price drop on the X

I don't think i will be alone in that....

They should, but they won't. Not for a while anyway probably.

I'm with ya there. I've only got a silver studio at the moment so hoping for a cheapish Ren popping up on eBay soon or a big drop on the X price.

Yeah,

But remember for $2,199.00 for only 8 Stereo tracks, C'MON MAN, thats CRAZY Pricing, I bought my whole Ren system for $699.00, so Akai could produce an MPC X Controller Only for roughly $799.00, and get this they are going to make all Ren owners pay for the 2.0 software, and your Ren will still have digitizing issues due to the USB 2.0 speed, in order to take real advantage of more than 24 audio track with at least 24 bit / 48 khz you should be running USB 3.0 directly into a computer with a USB 3.0 port, this is why an MPC X Controller only will make sense, both physically speaking and financially speaking, I know Akai knows this because I've spoken with them numerous times about the digitizing thats happening when you have multiple USB 2.0 devices connected to your computer, the speed of USB 2.0 CAN'T handle that sort of traffic, this is why the MPC X is USB 3.0, trust me folks I'm not only a musician but also a computer technician, Akai will do one of two in the next year or so, they will either produce an MPC X Controller only device or they will drastically drop the price on the current MPC X, and I hope they charge very little the MPC 2.0 software that us Ren owners obviously will have to pay for.

Just a Thought......Just a thought

I'd pay $1000 for the controller only. I agree it doesn't make much sense to buy the hardware unit if you don't need that sort of work flow. I originally bought my Ren for 1200 when it first came out. I'm holding off until akai puts one out, until then I'll use my maschine studio
