MPC 2.0 Software and MPC Live registering

Do you first have to authorize the MPC 2.0 software to use MPC Live in standalone mode?

Or can you just start using the MPC Live directly from the box?

You don't need to authorize anything in standalone mode.

I took the live out the box and i dont even have mpc software loaded on any computer and i hope i dont need to use the software for anything...

The software will probably be needed for firmware updates etc.
