Hi all,
(I repost this from the AKAI Pro forum as noone seems to respond to this. I might be missing something but I don't think so)..
I'm a long time MPC fan and have worked the MPC Live into a live setup containing An Roland TB-03, A Pioneer AS-1, A Minitaur An Octatrack and my trusty TR909.
The 03 and AS 1 come from the Akai.
The Minitaur comes from the Octa.
Both machines get clocked from a ER-M Multiclock. As is the 909 which I occasionally bring along (careful with that vintage gear).
What I've encountered is that I have to copy sequences in order to mute pads. I prefer to work with one drum & soundbank per sequence and wouldn't prefer to preprogram sequences as I feel that's not really live.
Wouldn't it be easier to have pads mute continuously as I switch to another sequence? I want the banks on the octa to correspond to the ones on the Live and feel it takes away from my live performance if I have to copy sequences.
Like on the Octa, I'd prefer to leave my pads (trigs) the way I leave them (kick running for instance) as I enter a new sequence so that the build up becomes more 'on the fly', instead of now having to stop the live, switch sequences and mute or unmute pads and then turn it back on. That's an extra 16/32/48/64 beats that I have to wait and slows the progression.
Also I'd love to use a controller which does not seem to work as of yet. And the midi isn't tight. On the multiclock the position is just under 11 o'clock and even my 909 isn't that slow...
