Ive been using hookpad+. Ive exported a midi file and when I drop this into Ableton the three tracks are shown. How do I import a midi file into the live? If I go into controller mode I can get a file into it but its not recognised as anything.

Its either me being an idiot or Ive missed something. I also tried using the MPC 2.0 software on the pc but couldnt get the midi tracks in there either.

If someone could assist me that would be great.

Regards in advance

So l did the midi import to the 2.0 software only and it worked.

I did chords in Reason 9 exported those chords as a midi file. You should see the midi extension i.e. "Piano.mid".

I had my MPC Live in controller mode and opened the 2.0 software.

I took my midi file, dragged and dropped it into the SW in the midi sequencer and it popped up easy.

I used this to hear it.

Cool ok thanks for the instruction i will try that i looked to see what type the midi file from hookpad was and it says type 1, anyway i will put the software into m7di mode. If the live has the midi inside it on the drive what is the sequence for that to use it or does it have to be done with the computer?

There is no special method, just navigate to it in the browser and load it like any other file. If it doesn't load it's a problem with the MIDI file.

Ok I'm' new to the mpc line I just got a live two days ago waiting for it to show up at my door now. But I bought the live for the stand alone feature I come from FL studio I have folders and folders of MIDI I made. Can I save those MIDIs on the hard drive of the live and use like an mpc expansion or do I have to load them in controller mode only? :hmmm:
