Thought my experience might benefit potential buyers.

BACKGROUND
I'm most comfortable with laptop, iPhone and iPad. However I picked up a MPC4k and 2 MPC2500s several years ago because I hate using computers. However, I found that I can't produce detailed beats on the MPC as I can in a DAW. The workflow is disgusting... to say the least. So I ended up using them for silly projects such as sampling Sonic OST, as opposed to recording several instruments and making actual songs.

Also not a fan of dud controllers so picture my excitement when a standalone touchscreen MPC comes out. However, after playing around with the Live several times, it became clear that regardless of all the bells and whistles (touchscreen, standalone, etc), the workflow is still as archaic, rigid, and restrictive as the older MPCs.

So I've decided to sell my MPCL and purchase an iPad Pro instead.

Pretty disappointed.

So within a day or two of having basic questions you decided to give up and get an iPad?
Not everything is for everyone as you know, but I doubt your claims about content making if you can't have more than a few days patience.
By all means get your iPad and make that amazing content you claim. FYI, most newer stuff like beatmaker 3 and machine are based off the mpc workflow.
Not sure how "archaic" any mpc or sampler/drum machine is fwiw, I just think you want a box or app to make your "content" for you.
Good luck.

I definitely didn't understand the Archaic part of the New Machines, (X, Live), The things it does are not archaic its definitely newer technology Than say the MPC 2000XL, 2000, 2500 ETC. It has touch screen, so does the ipad, soooooo........ Ummm I don't get it. I don't wanna do music on an ipad with no feeling of the pads.
