I’ve made a lot of tracks but have yet to use clips. I’ll try it out and see what I come up with. Just curious who’s been using the clip features?

hehe not many.....
I dont use them because i find it weird that it is not within a drum pgm to take advantage of the drum pgm edit system and parameters... Essentially its just a extra type of triggering mode... toggle one shot with endless looping... The only extra thing is trigger quantizing...

I would be using it alot if i could utilise it with drum pgm one shots.. A dream finger drumming combination...

Would love to use clips within a drum program myself. It would make a ton of sense in that we can have 8 pad banks. If I could have that be a mix of clips and one shots I could play a whole show with just a few programs!

I haven't touch the mpc live for a 2 months now [...] overworking :(

But today I start wondering about Clip launching. Of course, it's not possible to assign a sequence to a clip right? That'd be great by the way.
We have to bounce a sequence to a loop and then load into a clip pad?

I still don't understand what exactly is different between clip launching and making a drum pattern. Anyone care to explain?

tbh i have no idea how i could use clips. how is it better then just use mutes and change sequences? do i need to convert tracks to loops? guess could be useful in a live situation?

If you’re using loops in your tracks and want to trigger them quantized then this is your mode..This is how i play some of my tracks live..
Drum programs lean towards to more old school/classic style playing..Quantized and toggle triggering is the basic difference of Clip programs..Also if you trigger a pad in clip mode it can Loop/toggled without being recorded..You can’t do that in drum programs..IMHO if AKAI used the different launch modes and quantization inside drum programs there wouldn’t be a need for clip programs..It’s such an easy implementation!

perhaps tubedigga can make a deeper video on clips since he is posting his videos/active here. i see it more for live use rather than studio stuff but that's just me,

I agree 100%, having the separate clip program type seems completely unnecessary when all that functionality could have been merged into the drum program spec.

hi
trying to understand if you can use a clip program AND a drum program together for live improvising. Every time I switch track (ie track 01 clips to track 02 drums) the clips reach the end of their length and then stop. really strange, or maybe I'm missing something.
thanks!

thanks for the message but I don't want to record clips. just launch them and improvise live.
