Hello,

Just asking for some thoughts and advice. I've been using my MPC 2000XL since I brought it in 2001. It's been pretty much my primary means of making drum beats. Needless to say making music has come a long way. I brought an original maschine when it first came out couldn't get into it's "work flow" or how to even use it really so it collected dust till I sold it. I waited out the Akai storm never seeing much of a reason to go to anything else until I see this MPC X. :worthy: It seems like it's everything that someone like me could want. A STANDALONE! yes I don't like fiddling with computers and other crap when I want to make a damn beat. I want to turn on the machine make my beat do my filters and all that jazz IN THE GEAR! I don't want to use any program, don't want to wait for windows to load up, do updates, etc. etc. and by the time I get to to where I need to be I forgot what I was going to lay down. Nah not for me.

The MPC X seems to be a beat factory with all kinds of craziness going on. Any how I ended up buying a Machine Studio recently because it was cheap thinking it had changed since the original and honestly I'm so used my 2KXL I just want something different to compliment it. Well guess what... that bleeps is in the box and the box is collecting dusts. Doesn't even come with a manual or nothing. What do these companies think I do as I sit on the toilet? I read the manuals from page to page. The Machine Studio is deeper than the Titanic and it's manual is online only.

The work flow of the Maschine seems to complex to me I'm but a simple MPC man. I looked at the back of the studio not realizing it but it doesn't have any audio outs or a mic jack or headphone jack or anything???? How is it that even possible (The MK3's have it so they finally got the hint but that's another story) I have to run a bunch of stuff through my computer to get it to sample??? Do you know how weird and inconvenient that is???

I apologize for not understanding the MPC-X and that its for guys like me but in my defense it feels like Akai releases a new MPC everytime I sneeze. I see the older versions in the pawn shop all the time (Never a 2KXL though). So when throwing down a few GRAND! on a new MPC I want to make sure it's something Akai is going to stick with and support and not get Roland Syndrome where you release a $2-4K instrument and then forget about it a week later like you never made it (Ahem JP-80).

So my questions if you made it this far down the page is for guys that came from or own an MPC 2000XL how comfortable do you think it is for an MPC O.G. to jump into? Is it's workflow overwhelming? Is it easy to just boot up and get started with your work? How are the sample and drum library organization?

Here is my reason for ever being attracted to the Maschine. 1. It's library organization and the hundreds of sounds you get with Komplete and the ability to just mix and match drums and swap drum kits on the fly.

Does the MPC X have that same level of sound organization? What's Akai's support like for this? Do they have hundreds of sound kits like Komplete offers for the Maschine?

I just typed a lot using this so called smart phone. It gets on my nerves.. Come back to this page and what l typed is gone.

Don't expect the X to be like Maschine or the 2000XL. Its better. Get Tutor's MPC Bible its cheap in PDF.

Here's a vid l Did vid with the live. The X is a beast.

Truth be told I was checking out the MPC Live video reviews on YouTube. Shit looks DOPE!

Get the Live. You don't need the X
I think most people who get the X do so only because it looks fancy and is bigger etc. The Q links and shit are cool but not needed, especially if you're coming from the XL.

Save some scratch and buy the live and a small laptop stand. You won't regret it

Thanks for the replies and the insights. I'm really loving the knobs and the live beat morphing and effects the MPC-X lets you do. Work flow is incredible. I might have to go out and buy a ski mask though and start campaigning to buy this thing... if yah know what I mean.

Did you have to buy Maschine Studio only to realize afterwards that it doesn't have audio ins/outs? Is anyone doing any **** research before buying shit? :Sigh:

Lol, this dude trynna clown me. I owned a machine before I know what to expect. I didn't buy the Studio expecting it to have in's and out's I figured it being a studio it SHOULD HAVE ins and outs. Audio jacks are just basic stuff not something you go searching for on gear. I can't name any gear that doesn't have audio jacks on it but NI. It's just a controller that depends on the PC I knew that from the first time I owned it but COMPARING IT to the MPC X yeah it not having in's and outs ,mics is a set back but NI got their stuff together and dumped all that into the MK3. Their phasing out the Maschine Studio so there's going to be a Maschine Studio 2 soon enough and no doubt it's going to have the ins and outs and audio jacks like the MK3 but the Machine is just a software programming tool. The MPC is the real deal. :worthy:

Profoundly said! Truth be told l wanted the X because of the aesthetics lol that ish looks dope lol. But then l knew l wasn't going to use all the functions like cv/gate etc. Man the Live is rock solid. QLinks work just as sweet and it does more than what l ecpected. I'm freakin happy. I got what l wanted and mote for less than the store price. Thanks to my boy Eyaic.
