Cannot write return FX on standalone?

OK so I've been giving the Live a chance once again.

Tonight, I'm trying to write return fx automation on standalone, messing with a delay time of an Akai plugin on a return bus…and…it won't write the automation.



So…you can't?

I can't automate the level of a return track, either.

Well, just to make sure automation can be written in general, I went and quickly tried that on a program track just to make sure.
Works well. I hit undo to clear the automation on that as i don't need it.

Now I realize the undo also took out a reverb I had added on the return prior to these steps, and not shift+undo will bring it back.

Aaaaaaaah christ. Please help me love this machine.

It's like this machine is OK if you *only* want to play samples, but once you go and demand a little more from from it, naaaaaaah, buddy, can't do it.

I'm so close to throwing this thing out. I've given it so many chances.

It seems like you are forcing yourself to like it. Why not move on to other gear if you don't enjoy it?

I like MPCs. I absolutely love the MPC workflow, and I work super fast with it, and it lends it well so well to sample-based hip hop that I do a lot.

I'm giving this guy a chance, as it's been gathering dust, as lack of PDC and any sort of precise automation mangling on standalone did piss me off. Thought I'd take the machine as it is and said to myself that as long as automation works in general, fine. And again, it seems it really doesn't.

Is a delay you could make use of midi cc's with?

What do you mean exactly? (I do know what CC is but don't get your Q in this context)

Messing with the delay time of the analog delay so it sounds funny? Doubt it.

Trying to help bro. I'm able to "automate" parameters on my effects boxes pretty easily.... not sure where analog comes in???

I'm talking about what happens inside MPC Live with its own internal analog-style delay plugin.
No other gear in the equation.

Well either have the patience to see if it gets ironed out with an update or like you said throw it out.

I really enjoy my live, it’s a shame that you don’t.

Not sure what to really say, seems like you wrote this thing off perhaps even before you bought it. A lot of wasted energy if you ask me.

The only way for me to *really* know whether something works well for me is to test it myself.
You can watch all the Youtube videos in the world, but they don't tell you all the truth and especially about things that matter in your workflow.
