Slice release and effects to all pads

Hi - I have two questions.

On the mpc 2500 there was a release feature to where the slices at the end would have an extra reverb at the end. Is there an option like that on the MPC Live? After I convert my chops, it didn’t ask me to set a numeric number for the release.

Also is there a way to add effects to all pads? I went to Pad Program and selected multiple pad zones but the effects was still only on one pad.

The only thing l know is when we export we are asked to have a tail. Are you talking about that? I set mine to zero unless l have reveb on a sound and dont want it cut when l export and put in my DAW.

Yes you can assign effects to every pad.

Press "Main" keep your screen on the house looking icon. Next to the House icon your going to see an icon that looks like an eye. lol Thats how it looks.

Hit that with your finger it will open up. The first icon you will see is a SOLID box hit that, its to every pad you have. Look down you will see "A01" or some number. Tap your pads you will see them switch.

Under "Program" you will see "Inserts". Tap that black box you will see you can layer 4 effects for each pad. Go through the list of effects you want on that pad close it out and go to the next one.

No, there is no 'release' when chopping, this is a major omission especially as the 2500/1000 had this feature, as does Recycle. I find it odd that for all the advances made in the chopping dept, Akai still haven't considered adding this, it's quite essential IMO.

Effects - you can add a program wide effect via the channel mixer (or MAIN) - this will affect all pads equally, or add effects to individual pads in PROGRAM EDIT or PAD MIXER. If you use the EDIT ZONES option in PROGRAM EDIT you can select multiple pads simultaneously to add the same effect to those pads. Lots of options.

What's this release thingy you're talking about? What does it do? Never had a 2500 or 1000

it is on the 4000 too
like a decay/release envelope
but i'm under the impression that the release part is taken from the next slice attack
so when i'm gettin my slices good (on the 4000), then i set it to 0, cause otherwise my slices will sound bad
(as the attack of the next slice is glued/used for the release of the previous)

One can use Alt loop for an similar effect!

Yeah, best to set all slices to Note On mode, then activate alt loop and add some release to all (note that this doesn't work with one shot mode).

Thank you - I was able to add effects to all selected pads with mpc tutor instructions.

With the release feature. I wasn’t able to find ALT loop but did find Note on under LFO Modulation.

Where’s ALT loop at? Thanks guys

ALT loop is in SAMPLE EDIT - hit the 'loop' button and it will cycle through off, fwd, rev and alt.
