MPC X as controller - assign note to pad and keep it there!

Hey, I'm trying to set up my X to control a SP1200 and a MPC 3000 - with difficulty.

I assign notes to the pads in MIDI control mode and it work perfectly. When I switch back to use the sequencer the notes are automatically switched back to a default setting (which are not the ones I changed them to in MIDI control mode). I cant use these default note settings as the 1200 has set notes it needs to receive and I cannot change these.

Is there a way to change the notes the pads are triggering on the X and keep it that way?

I wish... Midi control mode (as well as pad performance mode) seem to be only active when you are in that screen...

Damn. That is a massive failing.

The X is looking like one of the best sequencers ever except you can't set it to trigger the notes you want while using the sequencer. I can't see any reason you would need to use the MIDI control centre without the sequencer.
