Automatically create instrument programs for the X/Live

Let's say I have a set of samples with their root note in the file name and I want to make it an instrument program ("multi-sample keygroup program"). Is there a way to automatically assign their root note based on the sample name and an appropriate note range for each sample?

The programs are plain xml files, when I have time I'll see if I can come up with some sort of script to do it.
