Real buttons for menu options

I would have put some real buttons to enter the menu options, at least for track mute and pad mute.
It's a bit painful sometimes to go to menu mode and select the desired option, it slows down the creative process, especially with track mute.
I know, this is a hardware issue, maybe just an idea for the next mpc.

If you talking about the Live, then thats what the X is for. For those little premium features at a premium price.

However, from one producer to another, if you don't wanna pay that extra money, and probably will give you the same workflow, I suggest to look into a Pioneer DJS-1000. That thing is exactly what you want, everything is done in realtime without stopping the beat. While the sequencer is running, you can sample and chop the material as it plays in, add the chops to the beat, timestretch/pitch-tune the samples in realtime, track mute is a dedicated button as well as a Sampling button. Its secret is the realtime processing chip Pioneer threw in there. Only difference is there are no 8 outs or song mode on the DJS.

I am happy with my Mpc Live.
I really like the overall sound and I think that working with your own samples is a great opportunity i was waiting for.
Just to say, I ask myself why akai didn't put something like buttons to enter the modes on menu, or at least a couple of buttons to enter track and pad mute or 4 assignable empty buttons.
It was easy to do it, I think, and it would have fasten the creative processing a lot.
Using this great device I sometimes have the feeling it has huge potential but somehow this potential is not exploited completely because of a lack of attention.
I hope akai is working to develop the standalone os, right now there are a couple of stupid things that can be solved easily.

Its two button presses instead of one... Not exactly terrible is it

the live is designed for portability in mind so compromises were made. if you want more "knob per function", that's why they made the X.

sonically, the live and X are the same. so if you were to move up to the X you would still get the same sounds and features (plus more obviously)

On the MPC 1000, shift+pad did a variety of useful shortcuts. Why not use the feedback form in the software to request this on the Live? These are not used at all right now.

Imagine how brilliant it would be if there was a sub menu where you could customise your own shift+pad options.

I don’t have the software, don’t intend to install it either so I guess I can’t request features? Cuz man, Shift pad was sweet!

I’m good with the virtual buttons. Don’t have to worry about replacing tact switches.

I do want to be able to use my own chord voicings in chord/scale mode in standalone though.

Yep..You have to go “Flagship” If you need all that for your workflow.

That’s where the X comes in.
