how do you record the XY pattern to a sequence or pattern?

Tap the automation icon, top right of screen so it displays a W. Set it to R during playback.

Keep in mind, you can only record the X/Y automation to the active program; NOT the master outs. When you go to the X/Y screen, the default setting is “Out 1/2” (at the top). You have to change that to say “program”. Then, tap the automation button (top right) so it’s set to the red “W”.

Developers were forbidden by religious beliefs to make it possible to record automation on the master bus, or is it a technical limitation?

lmfao atmelcool.. its just that the software lacks that feature for now. iirc Force has that feature already. wouldnt be surprised if we see it eventually as well. oversight in design me thinks.

The Force can do all that and has the macro function on the top. So it is absolutely not a technical limitation. MPC Software is supposed to be a DAW and can't even do something as basic as recording automations on the MASTER bus or EFFECT buses. AKAI absolutely dropped the ball on that. IF you didn't do so yet, contact AKAI support and make a request that all these problems need to be solved like yesterday.
