Hit the pencil icon in your programs menu, delete the programs you want and then purge unused samples..
Deleting programs from the tracks on main menu doesn't totally delete them from the project, everytime I load the project it loads all the programs I tried and not use anymore.
Same with "save as" option. For some reasons I dont understand, it saves those programs in the new folder.
That's a problem for me, since my projects became very heavy and slow to load and it's quite bad in a performance.
I still didn't find a workaround for that.

Purge function is not the classic Purge function. You have to manually delete every program u not using and then purge which is RIDICULOUS!!! Thats not even PURGE from the old Mpcs!!!! Workflow and functionality is a big step behind and you just found that out, brother

How do I delete them manually?
Do I need a computer to do that?
I think best thing is to enter to the folders from my computer and delete them from there.
Does it make sense?
Is there a faster way?

It is ridiculous.
I hope they add a more streamlined way before they start dabbling with disk streaming.

what’s the classic purge function?
as far as i know purge was added to the 2000 with an update. the 60 and 3000 don‘t even have purge and it always was just to delete unused samples.
but i agree there should be an option in the live/x to also purge unused programs.

Well i think it's a very basic function, isn't it? I find it really crazy that a beast like MPC doesn't let you delete unused programs from a project.

It's the same as it's always been.
It never promised to delete programs, only samples in memory not associated with a program.

Yes you can delete programs. Go to Main Window and choose and empty track. Load the program you want to delete. Then on the right there is a pencil icon. It brings you to an Edit Mode, and there you can delete the program.

One Sure shot way to delete unwanted Programs would be to Tether the unit to the Computer, Go into Controller Mode. There you'll see the Storage Device. Go inside and Delete Unwanted programs from the Storage Device.
But Doing It AliKtrip's Way will delete the Program from Loading up. But the Actual Program is still on the card. But shouldn't matter too much being as tho the Program file is small in nature (kilobytes).

I think like a MPC. A program is a tool. If the sculpture don't look right, Don't blame the chisel..

Oooo I just found another way to delete unwanted Programs!
When you're in the Browse Section, select the folder, highlight the Program you want deleted, hold the shift & select Delete File. One of those hidden Shift menus lol

Resurrecting this thread because I tried everything suggested, and still had those ghost programs when viewing the MIX screen.
This worked...
1. MENU
2. PROJECT button in bottom menu
3. Double tap the offending Program
4. It will take you to that program, use the pencil to delete it.
5. Repeat until all unwanted programs are deleted.
6. You may have to adjust what each track is pointing at. Due to the enumeration of the Programs changing. But this was an absolute clean up job.
