Invalid serial number on MPC Live

Hi all,

New MPC Live user here..

I have a recurring issue with my unit. Each day when I turn on the unit it works fine, but after about 2 hours' of use the buttons and pads no longer light up and stop working (screen remains operational) and on the main preferences screen it reads “invalid serial number”. After a night of being turned off, it then starts up okay the next day (with the correct serial number stated in the preferences page), but then only to have the above issue occur again after about 2 hours.

One possible reason could be that just before purchasing the Live I had a trial version of the mpc 2.0 software on my Mac (for use with my Renaissance), and I connected the Live to the Mac in controller mode. So maybe the Mac sent the ‘wrong’ serial number to my Live? Maybe I should wait a few more days until the trial version expires, use the Live serial number to activate mpc 2.0 and then connect the Live in controller mode to sync the software and hardware?

I rang Akai support from here in New Zealand and they couldn’t solve my issue. Hopefully someone has some ideas to get me back on track!

Only thing l suggest is uninstall EVERYTHING ON YOUR MAC! Update with the 2.1 software then make sure the firmware on the Live is correct. You need to make sure that you updated the Live with the live firmware with the correct drivers. You should be fine.
