First off, I wanted to say hi!
I was a on this forum 10 years ago when I owned a MPC500 and later an MPC1000. After I sold the MPC1000 I got a Toraiz SP-16 because of the lack of standalone MPC's at the time. While the Toraiz build and sound quality was nice, it's software was really crippled for my taste... no way to delete samples, very poor midi implementation and so on... but that's in the past now
With the money from my Toraiz SP-16 I got a new MPC Live last week and have been running it in standalone mode. I installed a small 120GB SSD and so far have been really impressed with the workflow and features, after some getting used to using the touchscreen. I really miss using the mode + pad buttons to switch modes, which are stil in my muscle memory.
However I have also come across some issues (I run the 2.1 firmware):
- When I use "Load all" to load a folder of samples in browser mode, the MPC Live can freeze if it runs out of memory while loading. Is this a common problem?
- When the MPC Live is loading loads of stuff and I swipe my finger accross the touchscreen, the loading dialog gets corrupted and the text and progressbar are no longer displayed properly. Is this a common problem too?
- Also I noticed that the sampling time you setup in Sampler mode is "reserverd" for sampling and for the live looper, if you set it to the maximum 19:59 min it eats up a lot of memory and you can run into issues when loading big projects because the memory is reserverd for the sampler/looper and not availbale to load samples in.
None of the above are real deal breakers for me, since I only ran into these problems when trying to push the MPC Live to it's limits to see how reliable it is with the latest firmware, but I would like the memory mangement issues fixed...
I don't intend to install the MPC 2.0 desktop software, is there another way to report these issues to Akai?
