I've just purchased the MPC2 software and was wondering how it works as a plug-in.

Can I use it similar to a VST like Geist 2 (ie as holder for all my drums & samples but sequence into my DAWs midi sequencer?

Or when used as a plug-in can I only sequence into the MPC2 software and then required to use export or drag drop to my DAW?

I used to own Macshine 2 and DAW integration for me to do the above (point 1) was a pain in the
*ss.

The manual doesn't say much besides that the software can be used as a plug-in. That's it.

Does anyone know more on this?

I use mpc as a vst plugin in cubase. It does work but workflow takes getting used to. I use mpc for sampling and also for creating beats, I then bring in the kick and snare on their own output channel and so far I leave the rest of the drums coming in on another audio channel. So I can get better mix for kick and snare.
The drawbacks are that the sampler doesn’t work when it’s in vst mode (or atleast I havnt managed to get it working).
Workflow seems a bit disjointed using it as a plugin but it’s usable.
So what I’ve done previously is open up the project in mpc 2.x only in controller mode (no cubase open) then take a sample and edit it then close it all down. Reopen it in cubase project now the sample is in the project.

Thanks for the reply. Workflow integration doesn't seem very intuitive or flexible when using MPC as a Plug-In. Even Maschine allowed more flexibility as you could set up midi channel routings per sound. (And trust me, even with that it was still a huge pain in the ass to get a seamless workflow going. I gave up in the end as the constant configuration routing wasn't worth it.)

Was hoping that the MPC software had made strides over Maschine after all this time (and it has). Sadly not in this area.

I'm not a fan of the whole sequence (record to MPC) within a sequencer/DAW (Cubase). Would rather do all sequencing in one or the other...

Anyway, thanks again
