Why is the MPC X overwriting my old samples when I pad tap?

i was making some sampled, 128-set drum kits out of some vinyls and started to notice that after "NewSample7" it was just overwriting old samples and deleting those original kits forever ! it's annoying enough that i can't rename files inside the MPC ... I just don't understand that . i feel like it's a shame to have to constantly get my computer to sort out all of my files.

how can I tell it to start sampling onto the SD card I put into it ? and shouldn't it at least ask or something before it deletes my files like that ?

Always name your samples. Today's Sample1 can be a memory when you sample something new tomorrow and the MPC labels it Sample1. Samples with the same name will always be overwritten.

You can save to an SD card, but you can't directly sample into one. Sampling is straight to the MPC's RAM, from there, you have the option to save it internally, an SD card or SSD SATA drive. Hit Menu, select Save and hit the Pencil icon.

He doesn't want to work in front of the computer, so unless you have a batch-rename utility for the box....
