Is there a way to change pads without triggering sample?

Right, been doing my nut in for a while now so I've got to ask...

As an example, say I've got a sample on Pad 1 and Pad 2 within a program. Both samples feature in my sequence. I like to play my sequence, letting it loop around while I making changes within the PROGRAM EDIT menu, like making changes to the filters. The trouble is though, to change between pads I only know to hit the pad, but this triggers the pads sample out of time with the sequence thats playing around....

Does that make sense..?

Within the PROGRAM EDIT menu, Is there a way to change pad focus without triggering the sample? In the step sequencer you hold shift and hit the pad you want, but that doesn't seem to work in this case.

You can change the pad you are editing on the top bar of the screen. I cant remember if that plays the sample when changing it that way, Im new to this, there might be a better way.

Thanks, but yeah that also triggers it.

Just press shift as you select the pad.
It should make the job
