Hi guys....I had one of those production epiphanies yesterday that we all have from time to time. My idea was to create a Tube Synth program that would have patterns on track 1, track 2, track 3 and track 4 of sequence 1, then go into the track mute page and use that to turn each of them on/off and create weird melodies from there.
This actually (for the most part) works really well. There's just one glaring issue and maybe theres a way round this that I'm not thinking of. There doesn't seem to be a way to stop the patterns from overlapping (like mute groups between synth/midi tracks rather than pad programs). Track mute groups don't mute the other things currently playing. Sure you can do it manually by turning off touching the previous pad as you play the next one but if you have the mutes set up at short quantizations (1/16 for example) then you will definitely mess up. Both pads will play and melodies will overlap each other and sound like shit. Solo mode doesn't solve the problem because it will literally mute everything else (what if I want to use a drum track at the same time) and there doesn't seem to be a way to solo groups.
So then I tried to use Sequence/Song mode for this idea instead. Tube Synth playing a different pattern on track 1 of sequence 1, track 1 of sequence 2 etc. This gets rid of the overlap but now the problem is that there isn't a way to trigger the pads at rates lower than one bar, so triggering the different sequences becomes much more linear and boring. Is there a way to trigger the next sequence at 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 etc and I just haven't figured it out?
I just want to clarify I'm wanting some kind of workaround for this more for live performance (triggering midi patterns) than actually making a track. If I was making a track the track mute section would work fine as I could just keep overdubbing and use the event list to delete my mistakes.
Cheers
