Remapping Pads Outside of MIDI Mode?

Is it at all possible to remap pads without going into MIDI mode?

Problem: I have a drum/percussion VST that doesn't support remapping itself. For the life of me, I can't finger drum without my custom set up, so I do a lot of drawing or step sequencing when I use this VST, 2 of my least favorite things. I tend not to use it often because of this.

Any suggestions until I get around to autosampling my kits?
