Midi Merger on Midi Out A

Hey!
Is it possible to get more than 2 external devices (Synthesizer) hooked Up with the MPC Live to receive Midi Data using a Midi Merger? All Synthesizer should bei synced to the MPC Live and Playback the midinotes recorded inside of the MPC Live.

I want to Hook Up my DX 200 , Behringer Deepmind and the Roland dh 05.
Eventual anothe Synthesizer.

The MPC Live has two MIDI Ins and two MIDI Outs... so you address up to 32 Midi devices through the Outs (i.e. channels A1-A16 and B1-B16). Set each track to output to a different channel. From here you'll want to use MIDI THRU on at least one device so that it passes MIDI from itself to the next device in the chain. As long as one of your devices have MIDI THRU then you can do this quite simply.

It'd look something like this:
MPC MIDI A -> Device1 MIDI IN, Device1 MIDI THRU -> Device 2 MIDI IN, Device 2 MIDI THRU -> Device 3 MIDI IN

You can replicate this kind of chain on MPC MIDI B as well... so yeah, you can control quite a few devices.

Yes, a MIDI thru device is often needed when using many MIDI devices on a chain.

A 'chain' is just a word for having a number of devices connected to (or "hanging off") a single MIDI Output Port by connecting the MIDI Thru to MIDI In between devices.

If a device does not have a MIDI Thru port, it does not have the capability to pass thru MIDI data. SOME devices can use their MIDI Out port as a MIDI Thru port. If there is no MIDI Thru functionality on a device, it will need to be a leaf device (the last on a chain).

When a chain gets to long (too many devices) you have to use a MIDI Thru box (sometimes called a MIDI Splitter device). The reason for this, is because of the transmission speed of MIDI, which is slow (by today's standards). A message destined for the last device in the chain will receive it later than the first recipient in the chain, and therefor things will sound off-beat.

I have one MIDI Thru (x8) box on each MIDI Out of the MPC X. Then I use one or more additional thru boxes, depending on the devices on each chain. I have lots and lots of MIDI equipment and so there is no way I could synchronize every thing otherwise.

I do have a USB3 MIDI Out x8 that I was hoping would work with the MPC X, but then it turned out that USB MIDI was ONLY for input devices. Major disappointment. If Akai ever get this to work, I may get a few more of those. I do like direct connections to devices, which means low latency (for MIDI).

The Thing with the USB Ports of the MPC Live /x ist really dissapointing.

I use a simple midi Y cable to send one midi out port to two destinations, seems to work fine, then each of the two devices I connect each has a midi thru for connecting for total synths via one output and no boxes or extra power required
