Akai Force Forum: Everything relating to the Akai Force, the new 64 pad, clip-based standalone sampler/groovebox from Akai. While not an MPC, it shares many similar software features to the MPC X/MPC Live including the same underlying code-base.

This is a merged topic from all the multiple topics relating to the Akai Force and it's previous name, 'APC Live'. To jump to the confirmed 'Force' info, go here: viewtopic.php?p=1757349#p1757349

It's interesting what they'll do with this, obviously the same computer as the MPC Live/X, so most likely it'll share some of the software.

Remember Akai's announced changes to clip programmes...

imo Akai should just reissue the MPC2000XL with more ram and some other modern necessities... but same punchy sound, same look, maybe better display, but all in all just a trusty, ironed out XL. I don't know, this new APC seems to be like an MPC Live but with more pads... Who knows though, maybe it's the next hit... but on release there will be sh*tload of bugs anyway, just like with the Live and pretty much any MPC before... so I'll wait.

It's really designed for ableton or an upgrade to the APC 40 MKII. Ideal price range: $599.99 US. As far as bugs, if they want Albeton user to adopt it. It needs to come out the box blazing, like they did the Akai Fire for FL Studio.

The Manual does state that computer is optional. The question is what software is running on it?

it's their own software as it looks like in the quick reference guide.
maybe they planned it from the start and are now ready for it.
if it's the same software as the mpc – we would have to different workflows to choose...

here's how the screen looks:

A variant of what's on the Live/X or I'll eat my old boots. It's the same motherboard except they put the ethernet jack in on this one, and 99% of what the software on something like this would need to to do is the same as what the Live does.

The real question is what will run on the computer that you connect it to. My hope is they'll bring the Matrix view to the MPC software (including the Live) and everything wll be 100% compatible across the range.

On desktop/laptop I would say Ableton LIve and MPC Software 2.0. My guess it will come with Ableton Live LIte and/or MPC Software 2.0 download.

You have a point, but why not Partner with Albeton and sell more units.? Why brand it APC (Ableton Performance Controller) ?

It is sure Apc means Ableton product centre?
Mmm I think they just put Ableton on it.
So it should be like a Ableton controller with Ableton on a tablet.
Mayhe?
Honestly it is surprising for me.
It is a good idea but it scares me because I am afraid this will lead to the end of developing for Live and X.
They gave up with Mpc OS?
