I posted this on facebook forums and messaged akai support as well as my friend google with no joy so far....

I need to make sure or not if i have a problem:

- MPC X -

When increasing audio on the headphone level knob (for headphones) OR
The master knob (direct/main knob set to main), the audio first appears on the right monitor/headphone and as the level increases the left comes in.....its a very low threshold so almost immediately both are playing but there is a noticeable difference at low level between just the right and left playing audio...im not sure if this is normal or?

One more thing - with all levels and volume/level knobs set to 0 or low - and i load a project/seq/progam - if i am actively in play mode, even with all output levels set to 0 or low, there is a sound bleed going to the speakers.....i can hear the set playing. through the rear on output 1/2 going to my monitors - and as well through the heaphones (headphone setting all the way down to 0).

If i turn the direct/main knob to direct it takes it away - no sound.......otherwise, in main, all knobs to 0, i can hear the music...........as i increase the volume, even though both montors are playing and i can hear music from 0 setting, the level increases first through the right monitor until a certain threshold, then plays through both normally.....

I haven't had this problem per se.

Things to consider
* Are you sure it is not a problem with your headphones?
* Is your sound source using this as a way to create a stereo field?
* Do you have any effects on the outs that may cause this?
* Do you have properly adjust gain for inputs?
* Using 1/2, they have separate gain controls, do you have them matched?
* Have you tried increasing the gain on the lower volume?
* Have you tried switching the 1/2 cables to see if the problem moves?

I'm afraid without more information it's super hard to help you triage this problem.

i'll try to simplify...

if i took this new out the box - plugged in my monitor cables to the 1/2 output .

load a project/program from the factory content. press play

without touching anything in the program/levels i turn the master fully CCW to "0"

direct/main is turned to main

with my master volume knob at 0 - my headphone knob (front jack) at 0 - i can hear the sounds/music/song coming out the speakers (from the rear 1/2 outputs) as well as the headphones in the front output.

It wouldnt be just the headphones because the "bleed" comes out not only in the headphone jack but the rear 1/2 output as well.

There are no inputs on 1 and 2 so no gain issues - the only sounds are coming from the program inside the x.

no effect loaded

so - like i said , right out the box - playing factory content with master knob and headphone knob 0 , sound bleeds through to my headphones (from the front jack) and through the rear to my monitors through the 1/2 main outputs.

ive also swapped cables, etc but it seems it would be an internal thing if sound is bleeding out the front headphone jack as well as the rear outputs with all volume knobs turned to zero (with play button engaged)

Thank you - that gives me peace. its not like i hit play and turn the volume down but if it werent normal id worry it would lead to something bigger going wrong -
