MPC X audio input 1/2

So I have the switch on the back set to line, I have a TRS cable going from my synth into the MPC X input 2 on the back and I have the levels turned up.

I then go to the sampler and set a signal then I select input 1/2, cool, got a signal coming in and then I plug it in and select input 3/4, yeah ok got a signal. Then i go to sample in mono and I get a signal when I plug it into inputs 1 and 3 then select just input 1 or input 3 but I dont get a signal when I plug it into inputs 2 or 4 then select input 2 or input 4.

Any ideas?

Same thing happens when i switch to the front instrument input jack, I get a level through the instrument 1 jack but not the instrument 2 jack.

Anyone else got this problem? Sample window > Select input 2, mono, run an audio source into input 2.
No damn level, I can hear the audio source. It works in stereo when I select input 1 and 2.

Its doing my head in.

I talked to someone at AKAI about this same problem and was told that its a bug and that it will be fixed in a future firmware update!
I think is CRAZY because this means you have sold me an incomplete product.
Isn't it enough that there is no Multi timbral MIDI but there is Two MIDI inputs and 4 MIDI outputs! Sorry, I digress, yes, the inputs are supposed to be fixed soon (at least that was what was said)

Not sure, I am using a mixing desk to channel input signals - I am not in my studio right now, but I will check today! - If you plug-in the source in 1 or 3, do you get a signal on both channels (1+2 and 3+4)? If so, I assume this is as designed. Many hardware use the left channel to get a mono signal on both channels - most microphones or string instruments produce a mono signal. As soon as a second jack is inserted the second channel comes to life......

Nop - I tried it - my assumtion was wrong. 1+2 and 3+4 are all working independently as left or right - no mono switch.
