Question for those hip hop dudes adding scratches

Hello all,

Just curious how others are going about adding scratches to their tracks in standalone mode.

I have been experimenting with the Looper but it just doesn't feel efficient. I figure there must be a better way. Maybe doing it in Controller mode is the answer but I thought I would get some workflow ideas from people here as I may be missing something.

I use the MPC to save samples to a thumb drive that I want to scratch. Then I dump those into my iPad “eDJing” app, via iTunes, and then run the iPad into the MPC Line in, and scratch into either an audio track, or into the pads, and chop them for further manipulation.

Sounds like a hassle, but it really isn’t.

I Scratch my samples on my Gemini MDJ-1000/(thru a Mixer), right from a Thumb Drive. Run that right into the MPC as either a Audio Track, or a Sample to Chop up.

Can the slider on the 1000 act as a fader? Or are u limited to baby scratches on it?

Thanks for the responses. I will mess around with audio tracks a bit more. I thought the looper seemed perfect. It would be great if you could have the looper go around many times trying different "takes", then audition them all at the end and discard the ones you dont use, saving the good one. Having old takes erased as the looper loops is not ideal. The export button could include all recorded loops and you could choose the one to export. I used to do something similar in Pro Tools.

The Gemini MDJ-1000(not the MPC1000), slider is only for pitch control of the Platter

I don't hate impc, fact is there are several vastly superior options out there to suggest to people ya know.

One thing the videos don't cover is when you use the same sample on two pads and have them cut each other off. You can then use two fingers. Just another option to think about.

Faux scratching can be done on many of them.

It would be a highly used part imo. They’d have to make a removeable easily replaceable fader.

It’s not a mixer and didn’t require a fader tho.

Qlinks are the evolution of the note variation slider and a better fit for a drum machine sampler imo.

And the note variation slider was a super small take on assignable keyboard mod wheels seems like.
