No stereo to mono

I've sampled a bunch of sounds from my Tanzbar 2 into the Live, don't recall which input I use on the Live. I forgot to record them as mono and now they only play out of one side, (someone recommended recording mono samples into the left input?) I've tried using stereo to mono and summing it, doesn't do anything, the sample still appears in sample edit with left and right paths with the audio only being in the top one. Is there another way to change this into a mono sample? Resample? Or do I have to re record all of the samples? Thanks in advance!

Hey Lampdog, thanks for the help. I recorded each sound from it's individual out on the TB2, which are all mono. I used a mono TS cable but I may have put the cable into the right rather than left input on the Live. I understand now how to properly record mono samples but is there not a way to just change the samples, as they are in the live, into mono? As I stated the stereo to mono function in the Live didn't work but I think there's gotta be another way.

Could I resample them as a mono sample? They're all mono.

EDIT: Turns out stereo to mono DID work. I'd expected the sample on my sample edit screen to snap into a mono sample but it just created another of the sample in mono, found it down the list of samples........

never had a problem with the stereo to mono function in the sample editor, works for me

Thanks a million to you, i found my converted to mono samples too. It’s was not so obvious really!

To confirm, to record in mono in the first place you must set the 'output' of the sampler to 'mono'.

If it's originally a mono instrument, set the MPC sampler input to '1' and connect the output of the instrument into the left MPC input channel. Or '2' if you are recording into the right input channel.

When recording a true stereo instrument set to input 1/2 and connect both outputs of the instrument to the MPC L & R inputs - an output setting of 'mono' will now sum the two inputs into a mono wav file. An output setting of 'Stereo' gives you a stereo file.

And to create a mono file from an existing stereo audio file go to SAMPLE EDIT > PROCESS > 'STEREO > MONO' and choose which channel(s) will be used to create the mono version.

it creates a new sample.. browse through your samples for the new one

When you convert a sample from stereo to mono, it shows you right at the bottom of the window what the new files name is and gives you the option to change it.
