Noob question about using MPC Live for backing

Hi guys

Wondering if what I'm wanting to do is possible.

I'm wanting to run the MPC Live as a backing machine whilst I play guitar. So say I have 2 sequences (eg verse and chorus) I'm wanting the verse sequence to continue playing and looping until I send it a message (via a foot midi controller) to move to the chorus sequence.

I'm wanting to do it this way so I'm not tied down to playing a rigid format. So if the singer ad-libs for a bit during the verse I can delay the next chorus coming in.

I've watched a few videos and seen on the seq part an "up next" message. Can this be controlled remotely?

Seems like the 'next sequence' feature is exactly what I am looking for.

As a guitarist does anyone know if I can 'press' the pads using an external midi footswitch? (Nektar Pacer)

He has a Live... it does not have CV ports...
