IMO it took a behemoth seller of a product (the SP-404) to really do that... and that was years after the 303 was already a thing.

Do all the button send MIDI?
Do the faders send MIDI?
How is the timing?
Does the sequencer drift?
What's the PPQ? (Pulses per quarter note.)
How much usable RAM?
What type of effects are included?
How many effects are assignable?
Will the effects run on their own card?
Does it have cascade function for connecting two units?
What's the polyphony?
What's the sample and bit rate?
What file format does it accept?
Can you import older SP12 and SP1200 files?
Does it send audio over USB? If how many channels at once?
