Mc101 as Mpc companion?

Anyone using Mpc Live- Roland Mc101 combo?
I was just thinking to get a MC101 to use it as a synth and a phrase looper with fx and scatter.
I was trying to understand the quality of tone presets, especially electric pianos, and the quality of effects but youtube videos are bad and forum talkings just made me more confused.
So anyone can share its experience on MC101 (paired with Mpc Live)?

What about the quality?

I picked up an MC101 recently and it's been a great companion to the Live.

I think the quality is really good, though of course it would be nice to have access to deeper editing of the synth engine--still there's CC controllable filter and resonance (among other things) on every track which is nice.

It's fun to setup an MPC midi program to match the drum notes and then just scroll thru drum patches while a sequence plays--much easier and quicker to audition drums this way than loading a bunch of PGMs and purging what one doesn't use.

The FX sound good and the selection is extensive; the scatter effect has loads of options I haven't even fully explored yet.

Just a quick question.
How are the electric/acoustic pianos presets? They sound natural?
And what about the reverbs?

Doesn't the MPC LIVE/X already do, what the Roland Mc101 does. At least with the SP 404 boxes, you could pass audio through it. This seems like a piece for a person who doesn't have drums machine or sampler. Perhaps a better companion for the MPC X or LIVE would be a Synth, with Knobs and Keys.

Yeah Mc101 is a also a synth, it has more then 3000 sounds from Roland synths.
This is why I am tempted by it.
Nothing against Air synths, but I think Roland synths with Boss fx on it is quite interesting to improve the synth side of Mpc.

I agree with the sounds, but that's why I said with knobs and keys. But if it sounds you want check out the Waldorf Blofeld Synthesizer boutique. They have older keyboard version if you can find them.

Mc101 has all these three features in a very small box.
And it's Roland/Boss quality.
Does Blofeld have looper and good effects?

No looper but it has some effects, no where near the amount of the Mc101. How are you going to use the Mc101 effects with the MPC LIVE/X?

I like some of the string sounds on the MC-101. It's tad too expensive for me just to use the sounds portion of the machine. I was thinking of getting one of the arturia synths to go with it.

No looper but it has some effects, no where near the amount of the Mc101. How are you going to use the Mc101 effects with the MPC LIVE/X?

I am not going to use mc effects on Mpc.
As I said before, I want to use it as a separate synth module with its own looper and effects next to Mpc.

Personally I’d bump up to the next tier if you want roland. The 707 if your looking for more groove box or integra 7 if you want more of the rompler side. I haven’t liked the last few things I bought from roland much and to get a few choice sound from the and not able to edit is a huge drawback, the 101 might be better but the build quality sucked on the boutiques I had. They got old REAL quick even when able to edit the,. Personally I think that money is better invested in a iPad and a used eventide h9 pedal. However, if you want roland, I wouldn’t go on the cheaper side with them.

For alittle more then the 101 is the behringer poly d you may like, or even the deepmind which would be about the same price as the 101. You could almost get two behringer remakes for the price of the 101. Their sh-101, 303 ( just seen one for 150 on reverb), and what ever flavor.

Not trying to knock down the 101, just offer up food for thought. I’ve been through most of the roland/boss gear the last 3 years or so and sold all of it.

Maybe the jupiter xm fits better to your needs. You have synths a classic workstation and a stage piano

You can edit envelope and filter on 101 synth sounds.
And I like Roland and Boss quality.
Thanks for the suggestions but I am not getting any B product for my studio.
