Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

Everybody wanted this and that, I wanted more Ram, someone else wanted a Live XL, a Force/X new unit and so on.
Akai came out with One.
At the end, that means all Mpc users should be happy.
It means Akai is investing on Mpc platform and the more One they will sell, the more money they will invest to improve the platform.
The winning side of Akai is that now any improvement will be for all the family- X, Live and One, they all share exactly the same OS.
And Force also will soon join that.
So welcome One to the family.

The price for the One will get a lot of new MPC users onboard. With those dedicated buttons it reminds me of the MPC 1000. Having the dedicated TC (Time Correction) was a good move. Let’s see how many Maschine users will cross to the MPC side.

Yeah but at the end we already have buttons on Live, it"s menu+pad.
So it doesn't change so much for us.
This One will catch a new audience but I think Live users will stay on Live.
But it's ok, it doesn't change anything if you use Live or One, it's same Os, same cpu, same Ram.
And a new Mpc means at least a couple of years of developing so it's all benefits for everyone.

I’m definitely staying on my Live.

@Pspsounds

One cannot replace the hours I spend on my sofa with Mpc on my knees and headphones.
And cannot replace routing reverb to 3/4 and other send fx to 5/6 to record them on srparate tracks through my mixer on studio.
But yeah, let's be happy, big improvements coming for sure for Mpc platform.

Agreed! Guaranteed future development for the entire line was my 1st thought.

Everyone wanted something different, but this was perfectly designed not to step on the toes of its sisters. I suspect we'll get something between the Live & X before 2nd gen upgrades.

I dont think Akai wants Live Users to Abandon their Live Units. MPC One is merely for New Customer who dont wanna spend MPC Live/X Money.

Why would Akai want you to abandon your equipment lol. People are loosing their minds because the One is not as feature rich as the Live. Its just an Addition to the family.

Mom had a baby. Now we have to protect our Little Brother. Native Instruments and others, are the Competition.

Embrace the One...sheesh!

But TC would be GREAT as a button! haha
As for OP, there are (2) camps of current users, those happy with what they have, and those no longer satisfied or disappointed. Those who are happy - don't really care too much, more development is more butter on top, but the toast already taste good. Those who aren't happy, aren't getting a unit that will physically fix the issues they have, they have been told things like disc-streaming are coming, but have NO release date/plan for this and are still stuck in a holding pattern, leaving them holding the check still on getting what they thought they were getting when they purchased it previously.

I'm honestly not sold its going to hit the demo it wants to. They stripped down the X and put something in the Digitakt & Maschine range, but digitakt owners aren't going to switch, and Maschine users obviously want their VSTs, and going stand-alone, you will not take the VSTs with you. I think the demo that has a better shot of supporting the product are users like me, people who may already have the Live and want an "at home" solution with more buttons, or modular folks (not me). I'd almost prefer they gutted more out of it to lower the price further, I *personally* would be good with a physically reformatted MPC Touch, a Ren with Live's screen, I don't need the I/O or anything, I just really dig the MPC format.

I wish there was an app that would rip the majority of my Komplete stuff for the MPC. I should just spend a day and go through all my battery stuff at least...

@ Unreall

First thing to understand is that people- me included- will always complain even if they give them (or better give us) the best dream box ever.
It's a consequence of the marketing focused on updates.
At the end I'm on the side of satisfied people, I was hoping for Ram and Cpu upgrade but it's ok, it will come and I have all I need with my current Mpc Live.
If I were you, I would stay with Live, there's no reason to downgrade to One, apart from the look and the tc button.
And Akai made a smart move, they know they can conquer people who use Push or Machine on a studio after the Ableton integration.
So now it's easy to understand what the Ableton integration efforts were for.
Mpc One is a studio Mpc, this is why there is no battery. So not a replacement of Live.
I wonder if they will make audio through usb for it, given there is only a stereo output.

In one of those videos somebody said disk streaming is coming? I didn’t hear it myself but that’s what is being said

Yeah there is a video where they ask Nick: "so you gonna make disc streaming soon?"
He replied yes, of course after a second. He didn't look so much convinced or enthusiast.
Ahah.
I guess they are freaking out with this disk streaming.

A few, I don't see a lot of people moving from Maschine, not that new one, hell that company is doing good and I have seen enough videos where people are making dope music, and they have both the midi keyboard and MK3. I like his all black midi keyboard.

Will they be / are they doing good remains to be seen.
Last year they laid off 100 people, and iirc the company hasn't been making that much profit (which pretty much was the reason for the layoffs).
Interesting times though, as they're did announce some changes.

Yeah, I mentioned it in the other MPC One thread here;

To recap:

It's at the 11:58 mark.

Nick: "I'm guessing you probably get asked this a lot, but... um.. is there any plans for direct to disc or streaming from disc?"

Andy (Akai): "Um... CERTAINLY. YES."

I'm guessing 3.0, but the question is: will we see it in 2020 or 2021? :Sigh:

This is definitely a studio move, which is why I entertained it longer than I should have (want a studio exclusive MPC, but far from a need), but I don't expect them to pull users from other platforms.

As a Push 1, Push 2, Launchpad, and MIDI Fighter 64 user - this won't supplant any type of pad control for Ableton, if I want fat pads, there are cheaper options (I won't lie, I've been thinking about the MPD 226 and 232 lately), and the Push series will outperform this with Ableton.

I started using Maschine a little late last year, just to try it out since it came with Komplete, I've even thought about getting a Maschine to pair with my S61, this will not sway me away from a Maschine, because if you are buying a Maschine these days, its most likely to pair with some form of Komplete, and keeping it a buck ,there is a real high chance you are buying it during their "Summer of" event where you can often get the device for damn near free when packaged with the VST(s).

I stick to "Ableton Integration is part of the long term roadmap that includes the unification of the MPCs and the Force", sure this is tied to it a bit, but I doubt it was the focus of it.

I do think they are trying to pull those people, I jsut don't think they will. Maschine users have been clamoring for a stand-alone - true, but this won't cut it for what they REALLY want (Komplete in a box)
