Really curious about this plugin. Haven't seen much news or posts about it. What do you all think?

Hope it is ready in 2.8!

Would be cool to have as an option but most users already have tons of drums to choose from.

Yeah but that's all sample based and you can only change them with the options given in program mode and/or the effects per pad.

Honestly I would prefer a Grain Synth, I already have tons of drum samples on my Mpc and a good working drum program mode.
But yeah, this Drum synth could be interesting maybe, let's see.

I tried to do a lil research on Drum Synths...

To me the MPC is a Drum Synth in so many ways

Forgive me for my ignorance...But what parameters can a Drum Synth do that cant already be performed on the MPC?

Yeah exactly.

Did they even say that was coming to the MPC? Isn't that for the Force?

It totally depends on the synth, but it may do physical modeling. If this was the case that would allow you to things like adjust the size of the drum head, the type of material struck, etc... total speculation, but these types of things you'd need a massive library of samples to simulate.

@ NearTao

Uhm I checked the Air drum synth from Air site and it just looks like an ordinary drum synth, I don't think there is any modeling or things like that.
It sounds good for sure and it has a nice interface, but let's see how they transfer it to Mpc.
I just have no enthusiasm about it but also I don't complain.
I mean, a drum synth cannot add anything to an Mpc which already works very good as a drum machine.
But I have some admiration for Air Musictech, those guys made wonders putting their pro plugin bundle in a limited cpu of Mpc making them sound great.
So let's see what Air has to offer before complaining about that,

The mpc is a sampler/drum computer. But it's not a drum synth. When it's a synth it means the drums sounds are created in the machine itself. Like the old drumcomputers from roland, take the tr808 as an example.

There is a big difference in this versus just loading up samples in your mpc.

As an example: If you pitch down a wav sample of a 808 kick -12 pitch it will sound much different (in my ears, worse) then when you use a real 808 and pitch on the machine it self.

Though, it is still a digital plugin, but still i am excited about this and the functions. I really enjoy the bass plugin too.

This plugin was teased in a couple of video's (during Namm). So should arrive at one time.

I think you are not really aware of the difference between using samples vs synthesis in this case..

Automating parameter steps on a drum synth be fun. Don't think it's an essential new tool but I wouldn't complain as long as it doesn't hog memory / resources.

Def a different flavour to sampled drums.

Yeah I know the difference.
I used drum synths, I had Tr8 for a couple of months but sold it because Mpc drum programs are enough for me.
The Air drum synth 500 actually works with both- synthesis and samples.
I think the interesting thing is that it has its own sequencer, so maybe it could be a good alternative to the basic Mpc sequencer. On Air synth you can reverse the sequencer and also randomize it, something I cannot (or I don't know how to) make it Mpc.
