Was thinking of getting rid of my effects pedals and using the effects in my MPC One as an effects unit. Flow chart would be, instument--MPC One--amp . Is this possible? I can get an "i-rig" adapter or something to go into the MPC.

Yes it will, the only issue the MPC One does not have a foot switch, just in case you want to turn off the effects, without removing your hands from your axe. There has to be some kind of work around for it. Nevertheless, it can functions and E.U.

Hi,

Sincerly, if you just want a FX hardware unit, go for a Line6 HX Stomp (or HX Effects) with an external MIDI controller. You can easily switch on/off each FX (6 per preset, and soon 8 per preset with the 3.0 update), or create snapshots. All is MIDI remotable with a keyboard or anything else. The FX are better than the ones of the MPC (I own the Live and the Helix Floor). You have 2 stereo inputs, 1 stereo output, you can extend the control with 2 expression pedal (or 2 switch). It's very compact, less expansive and you have a looper too.

I’d suggest a used eventide h9 max. They are still developing algos for it and the used prices are really low. Never tried a helix, so not sure how much difference there is between the two. The eventide is more all around, synths and mixer sends type of deal, but obviously it’s a guitar pedal. He may want more amp sims and stuff like that which the eventide or mpc one won’t replace. I’m sure the helix is somewhere between the eventide and a kemper.

It looks like a beast. One big cons over the Helix is that the H9 Max can be edited via a tablet on Android/iOS. On the other side, the HX has guitar/bass amps too, so that you can add even more colors to your instruments/synths. And it has another pair of inputs, and, I guess, more routing options. As always, try these machines and make your own opinion regarding your workflow and wishes.
