MPC Live Will Not Connect to iMac akai software

Hello, I recently added an external hard drive to my MPC. Now when I try to connect to iMac it will not connect. I deleted the akai app on my computer and redownloaded the software and still no luck.
Please help because I want to purchase an expansion pack soon.
