Factory reset?!?

Hey, I am *considering* selling my MPC Live and getting a Force. However, when I got my Live a year or more ago, I purged a great deal of the content on the internal drive. I know, I know, I've since learned that you are not supposed to do that... but it is working, it is stable, doesn't crash or anything - there is still much of the factory content on it, plus a lot of my samples, programs, etc...

So... is there a way to do a "factory reset"? To put the original content back?? I may not have wanted the trap snaps and the smoothe r and b vocals, but someone buying the Live might...

Somebody here might have it already but you can usually write to support and tell them you need it. Its a 10-11GB flashable installer like the firmware upgrades.

I would appreciate, if someone could share this firmware installer image, since AKAI won't respond to any request.

Yeah Akai has it and you need to contact them in order to arrange to have your unit reflashed.

Meh @ missing content. Not a big deal, if you buy a force scrape the content off it and throw it on the live before you sell it. You can install thekikgens ssh firmware and copy the files to the internal if you are ok with using the command line, he's modded both force and mpc firmwares. Or just dump a bunch of crap to a usb for the next guy. like you said its a stable unit just missing some expansion content. Don't lower your price or let someone low-ball you on the unit because of it.

I’d lowball the shit out of a Live or Force being sold with missing factory content. Not because it can be scraped off somewhere else, but because it’s a well known fact that tampering with the factory content can mess with the file structure and cause them to act buggy at some point. Your typical buyer doesn’t know shit about command line stuff.

we did that . akai won;t respond . saying the akai shit all the time doesn;t help at all

Well asking for things the admin of this forum has repeatedly said are off limits and not to be posted isn't going to get you anywhere either.

This issue is one of the most basic, stupid, absurd and frustrating issues around the new MPC line - and on this forum. If deleting factory content was going to result in operational errors (a first for any MPC I’ve owned all the way back to the 2000) you’d think AKAI would put it in the documentation. Instead, they leave it for people to find out for themselves; then, to rub salt in the wound, some users here who were lucky enough to stumble across this issue before making the same unwitting error gloat about it and wag their finger at the unlucky, because they mistake knowledge for wisdom.

I believe you are reading into what other people are posting. I get it, it is hard to take text at face value.
* Yes we get it, this sucks
* We all agree that Akai should deal with this
* Everyone understands that Akai Support is not as responsive as we'd like

As much as this is difficult for people please also consider
* This site is not affiliated with Akai, and while we try and help where we can, we don't have a direct line to Akai
* Regular members see this type of post frequently, often at least once a week, and it is just as exhausting for us as the people with the problem
* We are asked/demanded to resolve this type of issue, and we have limited ability to do much more than respond "yeah don't do that" or "contact Akai"
