I noticed on YouTube and various other areas on the web that many people are recommending a particular type of portable lithium-ion battery to use with your MPC One (or even your Live to extend the battery life outside your studio). Popular YouTuber "TheHitBraniac" even recommended this battery to his viewers in this video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKNyPmzGKvc

The product he is recommending in the video is here:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M189SS0/re ... DEb2EXXVQ8

It's a < $27 USD battery which seems like a great deal on the surface. That said, the specs of this battery is 7.4 volts and 48.8 Wh. To get the amps, you divide your watt hours by total voltage, so 48.8 Wh / 7.4 volts = 6.59 Amps. Even if it puts out DC at 6 volts to 8.4 volts, that's 8.13 amps to 5.8 amps.

The required DC voltage and amps for the MPC One (and MPC Live) is 19 volts and 3.42 Amps. No more, no less. I do not suggest you consider this battery, as it will likely greatly reduce the life of your MPC. Putting almost double the amps by itself is going to be problematic over time, but putting not enough voltage into it is also not recommended.

Thoughts?

Yes! Lower is not good, because it will fail/Power off unexpectedly, blow a fuse, burn the power supply. With the way he has it hooked up, it will lead to issues. I use a 40000mAh/148Wh power bank, but It's connected using the MPC ONE power brick. So in my case, the MPC ONE or anything connected too it, will only draw the power it needs, similar to plugging it into the wall.

Are you plugging it directly or using the supplied MPC X power brick? I recommend to use the MPC X power brick and plug it into the 3 prong of your bank.

I plug it in directly, my powerbank has dc-out and a lot of different connectors. And it can be set up to different voltage outputs. I saw one powerbank with power outlet, but it was huge, it cost a lot and it has a flashlight :WTF: :-D

Like OP stated, it needs to be 19 volts and 3.42 Amps (No more/less) and the supplied MPC X power brick helps regulate that. As far as other power banks, they have lighter ones, with no flash light  . Just search POWER BANK AC and you'll find them.

IMO this is better than having a built in battery. If you're not planning on using the battery while bringing over your MPC to friends house, gig or studio then the battery is just dead weight you drag around with you. Now if you do decide to bang out some stuff in the park or on the train you can always take the power bank with you. Dragged around the Live with me quite often without having to depend on its battery while taking up that much space in my backpack.

What's the model/brand powerbank you're using in that video? As discussed, if you're putting anything more than 3.42 amps into your X, you're fast tracking owning a +$2000 USD paperweight.

Nothing political about it. Russia is suffering from the same pandemic as we all are - just trying to figure out why he bailed on the thread when presented with a question. ;)
