Ableton Live Control Mode

Not sure if my Mpc live is broken or user error, but I've been trying to figure out how to control soft synths, drum racks, etc in Ableton Live control mode with the MPC PADS but can't. All I can do is launch clips, record clips, adjust volumes etc.

The only video up, just shows the guy arming the track and then then he can play the synths, but he is using an external keyboard. Is that really the only way to do it? Does that mean in Ableton Live control mode all the mpc does is launch clips?

So apparently the pads in Ableton live control mode can only be used to launch clips, Am I the only one that thinks this is the dumbest shit ever? So I have a machine that I mostly bought for the pads...and I’m going to use it just to launch clips? You should be able to Quickly switch from launching clips/enabling record on clips and using the pads to play synths and drums.

Create a midi track.
Send it to Ableton and should be able to use the pads qlinks etc will still be controling mpc
Can you not get to standard midi controller or does that enable Abelton control

I think you can do it that way, but I guess I wanted to be able to use the touch screen to launch clips while using pads to control the instruments.
