Issue : MPC One sync out to Ableton Live 10

Hi guys,

I'm having a small issue and been looking in the forum as well as manuals etc, to no avail.

I'm Syncing out my MPC One midi to Live 10 via a Scarlett 6i6 (2nd gen) via midi. I really like that set up, MPC = midi out, which controls Ableton as a sound module it's like a mega-MPC ready for production.

Everything works as planned = track1 on mpc One set to midi channel 1 syncs out to Abes track 1 set to midi channel 1 as a drum rack playing sounds as I bang the pads, etc, and so on with track 2 = channel 2, etc... whether I play or record, happy days.

However, when I repeteadly hit "play" on the One starting a sequence, which should restart the beat as soon as I hit play, the beat (midi or audio issue, not sure) starts lagging and eventually syncs back after 1 second, "elastic like" which is a bit annoying as I want something tight.

Same when I hit “stop” several times and “start” shortly after.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Not a deal breaker as I don't use this live but I used to have this set up with MPC 1000 syncing out to Live 8 with a Fast track Ultra and it was super tight.

Anyone with this setup or similar could shed some light on this issue?

Thanks mate. That happens both when hitting play and/or stop repeatedly. That’s a weird one for sure. So I’m not sure wether it’s a settings issue or a mpc1000 vs mpc1 issue.

in Ableton when you set up the transports (WITH MIDI LEARN ON and a transport function highlighted) there is a option at the bottom left with word " absolute". You will need to change that settings (trial and error) to find to one that gets the play head in sync with the MPC. I hope that helps.

Gave it a go but not good as midi learn is not involved in the process at all, unless I missed something.

Actually had a look at @mpc-tutor ‘s mpc Ableton pdf book I bought ages ago where he explains the mpc/Ableton “handshake” set up where mpc midi outs to Ableton and Ableton midi out to mpc. As I’m only syncing out, that might be an idea, will try later.

Got it in the end.

As an early MPC 1K user, I didn’t realise that MPC software and MPC One behaved as one entity. I thought of the MPC One as a standalone machine and MPC software as a separated full fledged software suite so there was no point using the mpc software since I wanted to use Live 10 as well.

So, got mpc One in controller mode and mpc software syncing out to Ableton live as a sound module.
