Hey guys,
I'm attempting to set up my MPC with my RC505 to play some existing songs...before I got the MPC I would have the backing track on the RC505 as a "one shot" and then play in bass lines and vocals bits live using a mic and triggering samples from an Akai mpx16...but this meant I had to be extremely precise with my timing as nothing was midi synced. Now I am trying to achieve a similar set up with MPC and I feel I am so close to getting there! i just have a couple of questions...
So now I have the (stripped back) backing track of my song as an audio file on the MPC on Sequence 1 (Audio 001)
I have also loaded the samples I'd like to play live as a drum programme
RC505 is master and MPC ONE is slave. All syncs up and plays great however...
1) I can’t record anything from the MPC into the RC505 as a loop - I want to record a bass line from MPC drum programme I created onto the Loop station for opening of the song.
2) For this particular song I want to loop some stuff on the RC505 before I trigger the backing track on the MPC - at the moment - as soon as I press anything on the RC505 it triggers the backing track on the MPC. I found a way to cheat it where I press “stop” on the MPC as soon as I start the first loop on RC5O5 - so I can layer my loops and then press play on the MPC when I want to bring it in. Is there a better way around this? Maybe setting a specific amount of bars at the beginning of the backing track that are “blank” ? This gives me less freedom but might be less fiddly?
3) Smaller issue but still annoying - The pads play but don’t light up on MPC for the samples that I want to trigger. Can I change that?
I tried connecting my MPK MINI to play the live/trigger samples into the RC505 - they played fine but again - can't seem to record into RC505.
Any advice appreciated!
Thanks!
