What do you guys think will be the next added features?
Also what do you speculate for the direction these mpc's are going?

IMO It would be nice to have a spectrum analyzer, an oscilloscope, Multiband Compressor and a Proper Timeline... But im not sure any of the first 3 of those will ever happen. Maybe the timeline...

Whats your guys's opinion.

I also really hope for an arranger mode like we have seen on the beta of the force and I hope that the drum synths are released in the next firmware update..

My opinion is that speculating is of no use, really. That said, if you are looking at the facts and what's been announced, i think they are working on all the (main) reported bugs since 2.8 in a stable OS version, and then they will implement some synths (like they have announced before).

The MPC foundation is so fragile right now. Releasing the MPC with any new features would be dangerous. Bug fixes and OS stabilization should be the only thing they focus on. Exporting stems has been broken since around 2.1 for example. How anyone is doing any serious professional work done on these machines is baffling to me. Basic work is doable. But 20 or more tracks? Full production? Ain’t gonna happen without roadblocks, barriers, workarounds and frustration.

And adding new features has also been so half-way done over the past few updates. The QLink overlay, for example, while a good idea, was such a poorly thought out implementation. Scrap those half-way features until it can be done right.

Fix the foundation!!

In my opinion...The Next Update shouldn't add ANY new features. A Dedicated Bug Fix Update. To address much bugs as possible. I know they can't address every Problem but if they do what JJOS does, put out several small updates. They dont have to Jump to 3.0 just yet.

They should do 2.8.2, then 2.8.3.....and so on.

Then in the future, they should offer Multiple Concurrent Updates...Like... 3.0.0 (that'll have certain features) and ...3.5.0 would have another Set of Features. The Architectural Structure of the Hardware is too Small to give everyone what they need.

If we do see a 2.9, I'm guessing it will be some more bug fixes and likely very little to no new features to speak of. If anything is added, it will probably be refinements of stuff that's already there or some baffling feature no one asked for.

Come 3.0, however, I think that's when we'll see some more standalone virtual instruments (such as the already teased Drum Synth, and hopefully the Force's Hype Synth or variations of its modules), as well as possibly proper disc streaming and features that can take advantage of that.

If there is a 3.0 incoming for the MPC Live family, I'd love to see the Force -style clip-based sequencing on it. But there are just rumours flying around about the next update, haven't heard anything official yet. : /

BUG FIXES

Phucc everything else.

There is some serious potential in the new MPC’s. Foundation of a nice furnished house
is there. Now clean the gottdamn kitchen (heart of a home. OS.), take out trash (bugs, not the bunny)
and we good..

I will add something from myself:

It would be cool if Akai adds in Browse mode a back button in that blank space at the bottom.
Additionally, especially for MPC One users, the ability to customize the Content tab. Use "Shift + Tap" like folder icons in the top right corner.
Probably everyone would prefer to be able to link their own directory with samples OUTSIDE the internal memory (MPC One ~ 2GB):
Image

In Grid Mode, be able to delete the highlighted Midi Note with Shift + Copy (standard delete shortcut in MPC One, but doesn't work like that).
Currently, to delete a note, you need to select it, enlarge the screen, select the eraser, delete, shrink the screen, reselect the highlight option and move on to the next note.

Also in Grid Mode, the magnifying glass icon in the lower left corner could move to the first note from the bottom, and not only to the bottom, even when it is empty (it is always in the keygroup or plugin Mode).

I would like to be able to change in main options to have Song Mode instead of Next Seq.
In Main Mode, I would like the + and - keys to change tracks. I never use these keys because datawheel is more convenient. In Grid Mode, these keys could zoom in and out at the playhead location whatever tool you choose.

Change the function of hitting datawheel to "confirm" instead of clicking Do It in multiple popups.

What should I write first, the Autosave option should be running in the background!

Timing Correct Selected Events should highlight the selected pad.

Now a bit about bugs:

MPC Software FX plugins and others are incompatible with macOS Catalina.

MPC Software can clear the entire track when changing tracks etc. the same when working with plugins or multiple instances of a single plugin (eg Analog Lab)
It's better to do "bounce to audio" if you don't want to lose your settings, but then you close the door to changes.

That's why I only use Standalone mode.

There is a huge problem with Q-link knobs. I am not the only one who has such problems and they have already appeared in 2.7.2
Touch-sensitive function can freeze even when it is turned off (touch popup). Good thing you can save it and than reboot.

In my opinion, this sampler does not work well when cutting samples...

Sometimes it can reboot and if you don't use the annoying autosave option, you lose several hours of your work.
Image

Sometimes during chopping, when I accidentally change the sample, the whole "sample map" goes to **** and I have to chopping all over again.
And it is enough to touch the datawheel by accident, because by default it changes the sample when entering Sample Edit.
When working with Grid Edit with chopped samples and changing their places, they can become distorted or shift slightly. Of course, it can also freeze because you're working with samples.

Some examples. Here you can see how q-link touch sensitive works. You can see on the PC display which knobs are highlighted and which I am currently using:

Here is a classic q-link error. Fortunately, it can be saved:

Here is an error on the timeline when working with sample chops. Saving was not possible here.

On top of that, it's a really cool device.
But more like a toy, something like a mid-range keyboard. Plays music, it's fun at first, but when you go deeper, it's a lot of annoying things destroying the feeling during production.

But it has the potential to be SO much more. Sadly I don't think the current group of devs and product management can take it there. They need to hire JJ.

Outstanding post btw.
