Hi

I'll just paste the message I've just sent to Akai following a frustrating hour or so.

I've been unable to install the driver on this machine (my main music desktop) but really want to in order to build some expansions.

I did request support from Akai some time back about this and heard nothing, so I'm not holding my breath. If anyone here has any good ideas on resolving this I'd appreciate hearing them.

Here's the message (slightly embarrassed about the rant at the start regards their tech support portal, but I'm only human, and it's a really crappy customer interface):

"Hi.

[Edit] PLEASE FORWARD THIS FOR TECH SUPPORT as I can't install the MPC Live driver, [slight rant follows] your stupid website won't accept this as a tech support request because I can't attach a purchase receipt even though I have got the bloody MPC registered with you already, and have had since I bought the thing (and no, I can't remember precisely when I did that either, but your system should have a record from when I first registered, yes?). Feedback: Please make your support portal a bit more user friendly rather than a system of hoops for your customers to jump through.

Tech query:
I'd like some help please: the driver will not install. (1.0.8, Win10).

Installer hangs on 'starting services'. Error popup: "Service 'MPC Live Audio Device Monitor' (MPCLiveAudioDevMon) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

The application is listed in the services (Win+R > services.msc) with automatic startup type.

When I try to run it run there, error popup: "Windows could not start[...] Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Properties shows path to executable "C:\Program Files (x86)\Akai Professional\MPC Live\AudioDevMon.exe"

Attempting to run this (as admin or not) gives error: "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCR110.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

A search shows that dll is installed here: "C:\Windows\System32\msvcr110.dll"

This is driving me nuts, I want to build expansions and can't do it.

Please advise on fixing this.

Thanks"

Further update: no joy, sadly. I've run through all those steps and the driver still won't install, gets stuck on 'starting services' with the 1503 error. Thanks EnochLight for the suggestions anyhow.

I guess I'll have to wait & see if Akai do get back to me. I've installed it onto an old laptop (also Win10...) so can do some work there, but it's annoying not having it on my main machine. First world problems!

If you’re using Akai’s MPC installer forget it. Go to the Akai Pro website and find their software page. Once you’re there click to download the MPC 2 demo. For whatever reason they give you the direct drivers in an installer folder when you do it this way. This worked for me... wishing you the best!

Hey man,

I realize it's been a few months since you posted this question, but I found a solution. You have to install the x86 C++ 2012 Redistributable from Microsoft (11.0.61030). Once you do that, MPCLiveAudioDevMon will start. It's looking for the 32-bit version of MSVCR110.dll.

Ha! Wish I'd seen this a few weeks ago. Thanks for suggesting it anyway! I just popped back here to update as Akai suggested exactly that a couple of hours ago and it finally works. (This was after updating the BIOS drivers, which was their previous advice, and which didn't fix the issue).

Here's what they said:
"Thank you for this information.

If you are receiving an error relating to MSVCR110.dll then this is an issue relating to Microsoft Visual Studio. The MPCLiveAudioDevMon service which controls the audio driver for your device is a 32-bit file and so will require the 32-bit version of Microsoft Visual C++.

Please follow this link to Microsofts download page for Microsoft Visual C++ and click the Download button. You will then be prompted to choose which file you would like to download, please tick the box next to VSU_4\vcredist_x86.exe and then once downloaded run the .exe file.

Once completed restart your computer and try and connect your device."

EDIT: Tried to retitle this thread as SOLVED but dunno how.
