Using a Key Finder VST In Standalone Mode?

Hi all, great site... I just signed up but been lurking around for a while.

Just wondering is there a way of using a key finder vst like "HoRNet SongKey MK3/KeyFinder/Serato Sample" in stabdalone mode? I think that there just for the MPC Software...

Is there a way of making them work in standalone mode or is there something else that can find the key of samples just on a MPC Live?

You can’t install vst in standalone mode.
An alternative you can use is mixed in key. It analyses the bpm/key/energy level of your samples/songs and writes this information in the sample name.
(Not in the actual sample I think)
So it’s easier to find the key you are looking for.

Thanks Glm for your reply, but i thort i could do that... It just makes it orkward sampling from youtube directly into the MPC Live.
Having to then get the sample out into a computer to find the key. Im tring to go daw/windows less.

Any other iders?

It’s a longer, but a more rewarding route to learn how to figure out the key yourself. I usually load up a piano program and play around with that over the samples. See which notes fit. Based on the notes that match you can figure out the key of the sample. Especially if you are able to find the root note. Is basically just practice, it’s hard at first but you get better at it overtime, just like programming beats with quantize off. Again, you’ll have to invest some time, school yourself some about music theory. But once you’ve gained that knowledge and skill, it definitely pays off.

Btw, you can also google the song’s key, but you can’t find the key of every song online.
