Hi Forum members,
This is my first post and have been following the forum for a while. There are some really great nuggets of info and it is a great resource. The bible is a definite must and has been a real help to get me started as a newbie.
I bought my Live last year in March and it never had that much use but I have been slowly getting to grips with it learning by trial and error making some loops being heavily influenced by the boom bap that I grew up on.
It has been working solidly for the past few months from light use but recently it has been crazy glitchy.... The sound starts to go static/crackly and distorted and then the whole system would freeze and crash. Touch screen still works but I have to force shut it down to the point that I am able to switch it back on and then it shuts down again automatically. This has happened consistently for the last few days and is unproductive to work on.
Other times it will seem to be working fine and then have a message on screen saying it has just recovered from an internal error. Also sometimes has difficulty seeing/reading/saving to the samsung ssd and the sandisk mem card. Luckily everything is stored externally on those drives and not on the mpcs internal hd. I have tried the reset and was able to update from 2.8 to 2.8.1 which was also giving some issues. Took a few tries for the firmware to update as it was getting stuck on update mode every time it switched on.. Again, started ok once it was installed and then after 5 mins or so the same thing would happen.. This doesn't seem to have solved anything.
I don't think the firmware is giving the issue and I don't think the external drives are causing the issue as Iv'e removed those and the problem still occurs. Has anyone else had this? Looking through older, posts I have seen peeps with similar problems.. It seems strange that it has happened all of a sudden - I don't know what could have caused this and I haven't changed anything as such but maybe an internal hardware issue?!
Is this quite a common problem for the Live? It is definitely hard to troubleshoot or pin it to a particular cause of why it's all of a sudden doing this....? I only use it in standalone and sometimes transfer files to the samsung hd from my mac - music files, samples, breaks.. etc..
Inevitably, I think it will have to go back to Akai to be fixed but thought I should ask you guys first..
Wanted to keep the post as concise as possible but thanks for having the time to read and any help is much appreciated...
