mpc one - takes

okay so I think 'takes' are not possible, so what is the best workflow to get close? Is it just to record audio track repeating your takes and then just trimming away the rubbish bars? Or is there a better way? Also what are the alternative devices to mpc for a more audio/guitar centric approach whilst still keeping the do everything vibe? Thanks a bunch!

I'll look some more but I think it either does overdub or replace. So if I use the latter and I stop it in the middle of the current take, does it revert back to the whole of the last take, or do you get half and half iyswim?

I just checked manual and it is not clear on exactly how the replace works.
