Reducing the length of a track , GUI glitch?

So,
If I reduce the length of a bass line in a track it plays as it should ,but in grid mode and step sequencer mode the play head moves to all bars .
Is it normal? It doesn’t make any sense

Same happens to both hardware (mpc one) and pc software
