I have an MPC X but when I try to click the data wheel, nothing happens. It is only a wheel.

Is this how it's supposed to work or is it busted?

I feel like i keep reading about how I can click the data wheel and it is supposed to function as a button.

The MPC X data wheel is just that. A wheel, not also a button if you try pressing down on it. Not like the other MPC hardware models. My guess is since the X has many more buttons they figured you don’t need to put more wear and tear and the knob by making it also function as an Ok/Enter button. It also seems to be a heavier duty, higher quality knob. What I usually do after turning the data wheel is press the Ok button in the center of the 4 cursor buttons or press the Enter button.

With all the extra buttons on the MPC X there’s at least 3 ways to do most functions. The hardware buttons themselves, the touchscreen alone, or a combination of knobs, buttons and touchscreen. I usually rotate how I access functions like this for a couple reasons: to better understand the gear and to minimize wear and tear on heavily used buttons, etc.

Doubling down on this, reading the Bible, dude kept saying "click the wheel" I though I was bugging'.

every time I use the wheel, my thumb is always on the pad center.

On another note, CAN WE PLEASE GET A BACK BUTTON?
navigating menus is easy on the hardware x, until you want to go "back"
