Hi all,

I am a brand new user, may as well say I have no experience with MPC's or any associated music production hardware.

However, I decided to get the Gold MPC One, as an introductory for myself. I have it fresh out of the box today, and I am just starting to get setup.

I plug in the MPC One (lights are on, all seems working), connect it to Laptop via USB. Log into my Akai Account. which then brings me to the download page.

Here is where I get stuck.
- I installed new network midi driver as instructed (asked me to restart machine)
- I skipped Ableton Live Control Setup guide (as I don't have it)
- Then I went to the next one - MPC 2.9.1. Firmware update, it then gives me a list of 3 options.
1 - MPC 2.9.1. Firmware update (Win)
2 - MPC 2.9.1. Firmware update (Mac)
3 - MPC 2.9.1. Firmware update (USB)
- I select the firmware for (Win) and try to run it, and it brings up a screen which says
- Update MPC (pic of drum pads on it)
- When I select update MPC the following message then comes up:
- "put the device in update mode and connect it to this computer via USB. To start the updater: enter
standalone mode and open the preferences panel 'info tab' . then hold SHIFT and press UPDATE.

The above is where I can go no further!

To get the fresh install, all software updates step by step, I'd be very grateful if anyone can hep out, or advise on what I need to install etc ... even if there is a youtube video about etc.... I looked for one for the basic, but can't find it.

Any advice or support greatly appreciated guys :)

What do you mean by 'I can go no further'? What happens when you follow the instructions? Is your MPC One in update mode? connected via USB?

3 - MPC 2.9.1. Firmware update (USB)
This one is for standalone MPC. You can place this update on a USB stick, not inside a folder, and
do the update from the mpc itself, no computer needed.

With the USB stick plugged into the MPC.

open the preferences panel 'info tab' . then hold SHIFT and press UPDATE.

That's the thing, I don't know how to put it in update mode! lol :Sigh:

Not sure how to put it in standalone mode and use the preferences panel 'info tab' . then hold SHIFT and press UPDATE.

Am complete novice.

Connect the MPC to your computer via USB.
Power up the MPC
Go to MENU - It should probably already be in standalone mode; check that the MPC chip icon is there on the top right of screen, if not you'll see a 'monitor' icon, tap this to select standalone mode.
Hit the gear icon at the top (Preferences)
Hold down SHIFT and press UPDATE (bottom of screen)
