Any tips on how to achieve a Septuplet Swing on the MPC for some Dills-style hi-hats? Thanks in advance!

That actually is the trick to almost all my beats:
- Play it, don‘t click it.
- If a note‘s timing off, you MAY quantize, but rather ten times at 10-25% strength than once at higher percentages.
- I prefer nudging single notes instead of quantizing.

Grooves like hell. 8)

Great lil template tho, gets in that vibe instantly....

@83dude that's another great thing about the newer MPCs how easy it is to do this types of stuff and the ability to visually see exactly what's going on!!!!

My human timing (tc off) is HEAVILY swung and sometimes I need quantize to waterdown my own timing.

Just get a little bit sloppy. It‘ll sound better, period.

Yep. It humanizes the sound. Peoples ears can pick off when things hit too square. Solid advice. Quantization is neat for some things but when every layer is quantized it sounds horrendously mechanical. All my best music is sampled from me playing live or with tc off.

I meant “swung”. It’s a habit for decades and I can’t help it, like 80% or some shit. Quantize sometimes helps me calm it down.

You damn swingers, I knew you'd all be a problem when you moved into the neighbourhood!
