New live owner here with a question about the built-in speakers and metronome click. Is it supposed to sound dull and muted until a sounds triggered on the pads, after which point it'll sound as expected for a second before turning dull again? On headphones it's fine, just the built in speakers sound like this.

I took a video to show what I mean. Can any other live 2 owners confirm this is how their machines sound? Cheers.

It's the same on my Live 2. That said, it might be a bug. I don't remember it being like that on my original Live, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for checking. The original live didn't have built-in speakers though? Like I say, its only when using the built-in speakers that this happens.

It's strange that you have the same issue. Maybe we're both unlucky enough to have broken mpcs? There are several youtube videos where the click works as it should. For example, listen to the click when this guy starts recording;

So, wtf is going on?

I thought it might have been something like that at first but nope, completely clean signal path. Do you have a live 2 to test if it happens on yours?

EDIT:

I have discovered a couple of other users who claim the same issue with 2.9.1, not sure if it's also a problem if you install earlier firmware on the Live 2. But it's quite possibly a software issue.

If you do have this problem, please make sure you report it to Akai, the more people who do, the more likely it will get taken seriously.

@david - That video is from June 18, 2020 - almost a year ago, when the Live 2 was still being shipped with 2.7 firmware, even though 2.8 had just come out. I'm betting that guy was on either 2.8 or 2.7. I'm on firmware 2.9.1 and have the issue; which firmware are you on?

I am certain that this is a software bug - Akai has already confirmed with me. Maybe random Live 2's are affected and others aren't - who knows. I doubt it's a hardware defect else the audio would all be distorted from the built-in speakers all of the time, yet it sounds fine other than the metronome weirdness.
