I am on the fence right now between an sp404sx and an MPC One. The main factor in my decision being that I want to be able to apply quality "wow & flutter" and other retro type effects/filters to samples in the MPC itself(no daw). The 404sx has the famous Vinyl Sim that has a pretty good wow & flutter sound but I am hoping that the MPC can do a better job of it while also providing more options. For example, there are several high quality filters/effects/compressor plugins for DAW setups that provide incredibly detailed and thorough retro sounds.
These two short videos (First, Second) are the best answer I have found thus far but his simulation just sounds ok and he is using the MPC Live not the MPC One(I hope that doesn't make a difference, I can only afford MPC One).
My other option would be to buy an effects pedal, like the Cooper FX Generation Loss v2 or Lofi Junky, and run it live through the MPC. This option is really cool but VERY expensive. Like this
Are there any expansions or custom plugins that have been made for the MPC to provide these types of effects? Would I be stuck making my own? If so, please provide some links for me to read through; I want to learn everything I can.
I am really hoping that some of you MPC Kung Fu Masters can shed some light on the possibilities here.
Thank you!
